Principal's Message

Dr. Dominguez

Welcome back to the 2025–2026 school year! We’re excited to begin another incredible year of learning, growth, and success at Emerson!

This year, our school theme is “Mission Possible: Believe. Collaborate. Achieve.”
Together, we’ll inspire our students to believe in themselves and one another, collaborate as a team, and achieve great things both inside and outside the classroom. Our theme will guide our work as we continue to build a strong and connected school
community.

To launch the year, LBUSD teachers will once again implement the “Smart Restart” curriculum during the first three weeks of school. This approach helps create a supportive and caring atmosphere while giving students meaningful opportunities to build relationships, develop classroom culture, and transition smoothly back into learning.

We remain committed to LBUSD’s Vision and Vision 2035: “Graduates of Long Beach Unified School District are future-ready. They are trustworthy, ethical, and resilient, and are able to learn, collaborate, and adapt to changing circumstances. They act
confidently in the service of justice.” At Emerson, we live out this vision by creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where every student feels a strong sense of belonging. By fostering positive relationships, maintaining high expectations, and providing engaging and meaningful learning opportunities, we prepare our Eagles to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally while building the skills and confidence they need for a successful future.

I look forward to an amazing year of believing, collaborating, and achieving together. If you have any questions, ideas, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

With gratitude and excitement,

Dr. Sunday V. Dominguez, Principal
